Going out of town tomorrow.
Visiting family in Northern Arkansas.
I'll be away from the computer, internet, and my blog for around 10 days.
Just thought I'd throw this out there in case some lurker wants to know; )

My Steelers stomped Denver last night!
Although it took a while.
Excellent defensive game for MNF! Steelers didn't allow an Offensive TD in the 28-10 smackdown. But the Broncos' defense put up one hell of a fight! (FYI, Champ Bailey may be the best CB in the NFL right now!)
But once Pittsburgh scraped their way ahead late in the game, the Steel Curtain slammed closed and Denver didn't have a chance.
Great game for both teams! That is how you play football!

Yankees win #27!
NY in 6, Pettite with the Win and Rivera for the Save!
And how about Hideki Matsui!? *6* RBIs, tying a World Series record!
Congrats to the Yankees, and to the Phils for coming this far. Excellent Postseason this year!

And we're going back to NY!
Another outstanding start from Cliff Lee last night. Yankees almost pulled it out, but 6 runs was too big a deficit.
I'm still calling for Yanks in 6. Andy Pettite for the Win, Mariano Rivera with the Save.

Two great games in Philly so far!
With NY up 3-1, can the Phillies bring it back around? I think it's a long shot. The Yankees may put this one away tonight. But with Lee on the mound it's going to be tough...especially in the Phills' home stadium.
Still predicting Yank's in 6. I think the Series goes back to NY, and the Win goes to Pettite with a Save for Mo.

Going to Philly!
Excellent game last night! Great pitching matchup, and nobody is ever excited by the prospect of having to score 2 runs off Rivera in the Postseason!
Series all tied up! Still thinking NY in 6.

Wow! Cliff Lee was ON last night!
The Phillies' southpaw not only beat the Yankees...he did it on cruise control!
Starting to feel a little concerned about NY's bullpen; 4 tack-on runs!? Still, iBear's official prediction is Yankees in 6. Go get 'em tonight, guys!

Yankees/Phillies!
Angels put up one hell of a fight, but the Yankees put them away last night. Jeter, Rivera, Posada, and Pettite are going back to the October Classic.
Phillies are going to put up another fight, but I think the Yankees can come away with this one. Hoping for a good, long Series of great baseball.

Wow...they called that one, didn't they?
Taking a break from baseball for a minute, my Pittsburgh Steelers are leading Favre's Vikings 10-7 at Halftime. Great game in the works, people!
And still looking forward to ALCS Game 6 tonight at 8. Two excellent teams going at it in October!

Excellent Game 5 the other night!
Looking to see if the Angels can continue to put up a fight in Yankee Stadium...assuming we don't get that rain they're calling for.
Gametime's at 8ET, y'all:)

Wildly jumping tracks...
We move far away from the world of baseball (which has so far dominated this latest reboot of the blog) and link to a YouTube video just Tweeted to me. Disney's Selena Gomez was recently made the youngest ever UNICEF Ambassador, and I applaud what I've seen from her so far.
Keep up the good work, Selena.

Dodgers out, Phils in...again.
Cover your ears, Alyssa Milano. The Dodgers got stomped last night in Game 5 of the NLCS. If anything, the Phillies' bats look BETTER than last year. (When they stomped my Rays in the WS. I still blame that on exhaustion due to the Boston series!)
And in the ALCS, the Angels are teetering on the brink of elimination. (Oh yeah; Alyssa can uncover her ears now:P) The Yankees have been on fire since the AllStar Break, and that hasn't changed in October. (Who would've thought A-Rod could hit like this in the postseason!?) One last shot for the LAA, and I don't think they pull it off. Despite the efforts of players like Torii Hunter (who seems to get BETTER when more pressure is applied) and Erick Aybar (Man, you KNOW there was brotherly competition in THAT house growing up!), the Angels look outmatched. It seems like nobody can stop the Yankees.
Can Philly? Tough call. I'll look into that...

Gearing up for Game 3 of the ALCS.
As expected, the Yankees are up 2-0 over the Angels in the ALCS. And the scary part for Angels fans is that the Yankees aren't even hot yet. Let's look at the numbers:
With Runners in Scoring Position, the Yankees are 3 for 20. That's an average of about .150. According to the standards of actual baseball, that's PATHETIC.
The AL Leader in RBIs this season, Mark Teixeira, has (count them) *0* RBIs in this series. In fact, he has 1 hit. ONE. From the 3-spot in the lineup. Legitimately frightening to think what could happen if he heats up.
Derek Jeter has been hot, but he's ALWAYS hot in the postseason. The man leads the Yankees franchise for Career Hits in the Postseason, beating out the likes of Babe Ruth, Lou Gehrig, Mickey Mantle, and Joe DiMaggio. And even as I'm writing this, he just hit a leadoff HR.
A-Rod is on fire. Gone are the days of "E-Rod" and his playoff choking. I'm not even a fan of Rodriguez, but when the man is in the batter's box, he LOOKS like a fantastic athlete who's 8th on the all-time HR list.
If Pettite is on this afternoon, Game Over. I think the Angels will come away with one, but even that's starting to feel like a long shot. My official prediction: Yankees in 5.
